There are lots of active, vibrant developer groups in the DC area: DC PHP, Baltimore PHP, and the Frederick Web Tech group. The DC PHP Beverage Subgroup meets monthly in Northern Virginia. But in the middle between all these groups lies Montgomery County, Maryland. In that area live hundreds of developers who struggle to reach any of the developer groups in the area on a weeknight.
It’s time to build them something of their own.
I’m working to organize a Rockville PHP group, focused on the developers in Montgomery County and surrounding areas who might find it hard to get into DC or Baltimore on a weeknight, or who live and work in Montgomery County. It will plan to meet on a different night than the Baltimore and DC PHP groups to avoid conflicts, and will probably involve beer (as is a PHP staple).
Interested? Drop me a line through the comments, or on Twitter. I’d love to hear from you!

Hi Brandon … Rockville PHP would be great! (Almost as good as Olney PHP…). Have you found a place to meet? I know this might be a long shot, but would you willing to meet at a church? I belong to Redland Baptist on Muncaster Mill Road. We have lots of meeting space and wi-fi. If we met on Mondays, our new gym is open from 8:30-10:30pm for open basketball, if people would be interested after the meeting. I haven’t checked with the church yet, but if you think it could be a possibility, let me know.

Sounds like a great idea. Rockville is a lot more convenient for me.
